If it is an emergency

Sudden loss of vision, a painful red eye, an injury to the eye, or a curtain or shadow across your sight needs to be seen the same day. Phone the rooms during working hours. Outside working hours, go to the emergency department at Mediclinic Brits.

Finding us

Mediclinic Brits is on Church Street. Go in at the main hospital entrance and follow the signs for the consulting suites; the rooms are Suite 210, in Block A.

What to bring

  • Your ID document.
  • Your medical aid card.
  • Your referral letter, if your optometrist or doctor gave you one.
  • A list of all the medicine you take, including eye drops.
  • Your glasses, including reading glasses.
  • Somebody to drive you, if there is any chance your eyes will be dilated. Drops that widen the pupil blur your sight for several hours.
